Details of the Royal Opera House’s 2018/2019 season have been announced – including productions of  Das Rheingold, Simon Boccanegra and Hansel and Gretel.

The new season will open with Der Ring des Nibelungen which will run at the Royal Opera House from the 24th September until the 2nd November. Richard Wagner’s masterpieces will be conducted by Antonio Pappano and will see the likes of John Lundgren, Johannes Martin Kränzle, Stuart Skelton, Emily Magee, John Lundgren and Nina Stemme in its casts.

Meanwhile from the 15th November, the Royal Opera House will revive Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra , directed by Elijah Moshinsky. The production is set to include Carlos Alvarez, Mark Rucker and Francesco Meli.

This new season will then present a revival of Bizet’s Carmen, directed by Barrie Kosky from the 27th November until the 22nd December. Meanwhile, Antony McDonald will present a new production of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel from the 11th December.

2019 will begin with a new production of Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades, performing from the 13th January until the 1st February, directed by Stefan Herheim. The cast will include Felicity Palmer and Louise Winter and Alexander Kravets.

The Royal Opera House will also  celebrate the 25th anniversary of Richard Eyre’s production of La Traviata  from the 14th January until the 31st January.

Other productions confirmed for the season will include productions of Katya Kabanova, Cosi Fan Tutte, La Forza Del Destino, Faust, Billy Budd, Tosca, Boris Godunov and The Marriage of Figaro.
