Following two West End runs and a UK tour, it has been announced Green Day’s rock musical American Idiot will tour the UK once again to mark the show’s 10th anniversary and the 15th anniversary of the Grammy Award winning album.
Opening at the 17 January 2019 at the Grove Theatre, Dunstable, with press night at the Mayflower Theatre, Southampton on Thursday 24 January, the tour will visit Cardiff, Edinburgh, Blackpool, Sheffield, Manchester, Birmingham,Brighton and Glasgow.
American Idiot is the story of three boyhood friends, each searching for meaning in a post 9/11 world and features the songs from the Grammy Award winning album including: ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’, ’21 Guns’, ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends’ Holiday and the title track ‘American Idiot’.
The show originally premiered in December 2009 at Berkeley Rep Theatre and was last seen in London at the Arts Theatre in 2016.
Produced by Selladoor Worldwide, the musical is directed and choreographed by Racky Plews with musical supervision by Richard Morris, sound by Chris Whybrow and lighting by Tim Deiling.
Casting for the production has yet to be announced.
