The production officially opened at the London theatre on Friday.

Production images have now been released for Dominic Cooke’s production of the play, adapted for this production by Robinson Jeffers and currently playing at the @Sohoplace theatre until the 22nd April.

The cast for the production is led by  Sophie Okonedo (Medea) and Ben Daniels (Jason/Creon/Aegeus). They are joined on stage by Marion Bailey (Nurse), Penny Layden (3rd Woman of Corinth), Jo McInnes (1st Woman of Corinth) and Amy Trigg (2nd Woman of Corinth) with understudies Alicia Charles, Leda Hodgson and Tom Peters.

Medea tells the story of a woman laid bare by grief and rage, and her terrible quest for revenge against the men who have abandoned her.

This production of the play by Euripides has been adapted for the stage by Robinson Jeffers and sees director Dominic Cooke collaborating once more with Sophie Okonedo and Ben Daniels, most recently on BBC’s The Hollow Crown – Wars of the Roses, in addition to working together across multiple stage productions since the 1990s.

The creative team behind the production includes designs by Vicki Mortimer, lighting by Neil Austin and sound by Gareth Fry.
