NEWS: Additional Casting Confirmed for Revival of Kiss Me Kate

Bartlett Sher’s production will run at the Barbican Theatre from the 4th June.

Further casting has been confirmed for the upcoming revival of Cole Porter’s musical, heading to the Barbican this summer. The two new additions to the cast are Nigel Lindsay (An Enemy of the People) and Hammed Animashaun (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), playing the gangsters in the show.

They join the previously announced Stephanie J Block (Lilli Vanessi/Katharine), Adrian Dunbar (Fred Graham/Petruchio), Charlie Stemp (Crazy for You) as Bill Calhoun/Lucentio and Georgina Onuorah (The Wizard of Oz)  who will play Lois Lane/Bianca.

Talking about joining the production, Nigel Lindsay said: “Kiss Me, Kate is one of my favourite musicals. Bart Sher is a world class director and the cast he has assembled will rock the house. I am excited to be joining the team.” Meanwhile, Hammed Animashaun commented: “I’m very, very excited to be a part of this production and company! And I can’t wait to get stuck in and brush up everyone’s Shakespeare!”

Featuring a company of 50 and directed by Bartlett Sher, Kiss Me Kate is formed of music written by Cole Porter, including songs such as “Another Op’nin’, Another Show”, “Too Darn Hot”, “Tom, Dick or Harry” and “Brush Up Your Shakespeare”. The story follows the on-stage and off-stage antics of of a theatre company attempting to put on a production of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew and features a book written by Sam and Bella Spewack.

Meanwhile, the creative team behind the production also includes: Anthony Van Laast as the choreographer, Michael Yeargan as the set designer, Catherine Zuber as the costume designer, Donald Holder as the lighting designer, Adam Fisher as the sound designer, and Stephen Ridley as the music supervisor.
