The production is set to run as part of Broadway’s 2024/2025 season.

It has been confirmed that Denze Wahington and Jake Gyllenhaal will lead the cast for Broadway’s upcoming revival of Othello, with Washington taking on the title role and Gyllenhaal playing Iago in Kenny Leon’s production.
With further casting yet to be announced, the show is set to open in the Spring of 2025 with a venue yet to be announced.
Kenny Leon last directed Denzel Washington in the 2010 revival of August Wilson’s Fences (in which he would then go to star in the 2016 film) and the 2014 production of Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun. This production will mark Jake Gyllenhaal’s first Shakespeare play.
Othello was last seen on Broadway back in 1982, which saw James Earl Jones starring as the title character and Christopher Plummer as Iago. It was last seen in New York in 2016 with Daniel Craig and David Oyelowo at the New York Theatre Workshop.
