Interview With…Hope Dawe

We chatted to Hope about her making her professional debut in the UK & Ireland tour of Grease the Musical.

Hi Hope – how does it feel to be making your professional debut in Grease
and how did you react when you found out you had got the role of Sandy?
I’m incredibly excited and grateful to be making my professional debut in this show. I
was completely shocked and overwhelmed when I found out. I got the call that I was
offered the role of Sandy during tech rehearsals for my first show at Mountview and
couldn’t believe it!

Do you remember the first time you saw Grease? I watched the film as I was growing up and it was definitely one of my first introductions to musicals. It was also the first show I saw on the West End growing up and absolutely fell in love with the show and performing.

Have you any favourite moments in the show? The hand jive is amazing because I get to sit on the steps and watch the rest of the cast be incredible!

What are you most looking forward to about going out on tour? I’m excited to travel the UK and go to places I haven’t been before and performing in incredible theatres I could only dream of being in. As well as creating a show that is accessible to people who love Grease but are unable to travel into London to see it.

How has it been working on the show so far? It’s been amazing getting to work with the incredible creative team to produce our version of Grease. Come and see Grease, you are in for a treat!!
