Inside the Rehearsals of…Kiss Me Kate, Barbican Theatre

The revival of the musical will begin performances at the Barbican on the 4th June.

Rhearsal images have been released for the forthcoming revival of Kiss Me Kate, featuring the music of Cole Porter and directed for this revival by Bartlett Sher.

The cast for the production is set to be led by Stephanie J Block (Lilli Vanessi/Katharine), Adrian Dunbar (Fred Graham/Petruchio), Charlie Stemp (Bill Calhoun/Lucentio) and Georgina Onuorah (Lois Lane/Bianca), Nigel Lindsay,Hammed Animashaun, Peter Davison  will be: Josie Benson (as Hattie), Jack Butterworth (as Paul) and Jude Owusu (as Harry Trevor/Baptista), as well as Carl Au (as Hortensio/Ensemble), Jordan Crouch (as Gremio/Ensemble), Gary Milner (as Ralph/Ensemble) and James Hume (as Pops/Ensemble).

The company will be completed by Alisha Capon, Shani Cantor, Maya de Faria, Amelia Kinu Muus, Jacqui Jameson, Lucas Koch, Alex Lodge, Nell Martin, Anna McGarahan, John Stacey and Harrison Wilde. Swings are Robin Kent, Barry Drummond, Emily Goodenough and Maddie Harper.

Featuring a company of 50, the musical includes the songs: “Another Op’nin’, Another Show”, “Too Darn Hot”, “Tom, Dick or Harry” and “Brush Up Your Shakespeare”. It follows the story the on-stage and off-stage antics of of a theatre company attempting to put on a production of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew and features a book written by Sam and Bella Spewack.

The creative team behind this revival includes: Anthony Van Laast as the choreographer, Michael Yeargan as the set designer, Catherine Zuber as the costume designer, Donald Holder as the lighting designer, Adam Fisher as the sound designer, and Stephen Ridley as the music supervisor.
