The production will run at the Harold Pinter Theatre from the 28th June for 12 weeks.
A first look image of Zheng Xi Yong and Mia Kobayashi has been released for new musical Your Lie in April, based on the manga which was released in 2011 and sold 7.5 million copies in 17 countries. It was adapted into a 22-part anime TV series in 2014, a Japanese live-action film in 2016 and a Japanese stage production in 2017.
This full-scale production follows the concert performances at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and will see Zheng Xi Yong, Rachel Clare Chan and Dean John-Wilson all reprising their roles in this musical. They are joined by Mia Kobayashi, making her professional debut.
Meanwhile, the company will also include: Ernest Stroud (as Takeshi, first cover Watari/second cover Kosei), JoJo Meredith (as Derick, first cover Kosei), Chris Fung (as Mi-ike, ensemble), Eu Jin Hwang (as Kaori’s Dad, Judge #1), Daniel Nardone (as swing), Ericka Posadas (as Emi/ensemble), Lucy Park (as Kosei’s Mom), Gracie Lai (as Kaori’s Mom, Judge #2), Imogen Law Hing Choy (as ensemble) and Ria Tanaka (as swing).
Following his mother’s death, teenage piano prodigy Kōsei Arima (Zheng Xi Yong) finds himself unable to play music. But when he strikes a friendship with the brilliant violinist Kaori Miyazono (Mia Kobayashi), she slowly encourages him to perform again.
Featuring music by multi-Grammy, Tony, and Emmy Award nominated Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn (Death Note The Musical, Jekyll & Hyde, Bonnie & Clyde) with Lyrics by Carly Robyn Green and Tracy Miller, the musical originally opened in Tokyo in 2022.
This production is directed and choreographed by Nick Winston (Death Note the Musical, Fame, Annie). Meanwhile, the creative team also includes: co-direction by Jordan Murphy, musical supervision by Katy Richardson, musical direction and composer Chris Poon, set design by Justin Williams, costume design by Kimie Nakano, sound design by Rob Bettle for Sound Quiet Time and Adam Fisher, lighting design by Rory Beaton and video design by Dan Light.
