NEWS: Full Trailer for Moana 2 Released

The film is set to be released in UK & Ireland cinemas on the 29th November.

Disney have released a full trailer for its upcoming sequel to the 2016 film, which is set to be released in cinemas later this year.

The trailer was unveiled as part of the company’s D23 event in Anaheim, California in which the company revealed plans for its future releases.

This sequel will see Moana reunite with demigod Maui when she receives a call from her ancestors that will take them on a journey across the dangerous and long-lost seas of Oceania.

The film is directed by David G Derrick Jr, who is making his  feature directorial debut and will see Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson reprising their roles as Moana and Maui, respectively. Derrick Jr. was a story artist for the original Moana and was also in the art department for other hit animated projects like How to Train Your Dragon, Megamind and Encanto.

Meanwhile, the songs for the film have been written by Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear who join composers and co-songwriters Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa’i as additional songwriters, replacing Lin-Manuel Miranda.

It was also confirmed that a live action film of the first film is currently in development.

The cast for the animated sequel is also set to include: Rachel House (Moana’s Grandma Tala), Temuera Morrison (Moana’s father Chief Tui) Nicole Scherzinger (Moana’s mother Sina), Hualālai Chung, David Fane, Rose Matafeo, Awhimai Fraser, Gerald Ramsey and Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda as Moana’s little sister Simea.
