It has been confirmed that the Southwark Playhouse and Icarus Theatre Collective will present a new production of Shakespeare’s play in London from next month.

Concerned that Caesar poses a threat to democracy, revolutionaries take the violent decision to murder him. As the world spins out of control, chaos, horror, and superstition rush in to fill the void. Civil war erupts and a new leader must rise: but at what cost?

Set in the near future, this production will use multimedia technology and creative captioning to highlight the parallels between the schemers of Ancient Rome, the turmoil of Shakespeare’s England and the power of fake news to destroy the world today.

The creative team behind the production includes: Set and Costume designs by Flavio Graff, Projection Design by Will Monks, Sound & Music by Theo Holloway, Lighting design by Jonathan Simpson, Filming by Luca Rudlin & Tobias Palma and Creative Caption Consultancy by Samantha Baines.
