The film is set to be released in UK & Ireland cinemas on the 27th September 2024.
An official trailer and poster has now been released for Megalopolis, which has been written, directed and produced by Francis Ford Coppola.
Released in the UK & Ireland later this month and starring Adam Driver, the film is described as a ‘Roman Epic fable set in an imagined Modern America’.
The City of New Rome must change, causing conflict between Cesar Catilina (Adam Driver), a genius artist who seeks to leap into a utopian, idealistic future, and his opposition, Mayor Franklyn Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito), who remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests, and partisan warfare. Torn between them is socialite Julia Cicero (Nathalie Emmanuel), the mayor’s daughter, whose love for Cesar has divided her loyalties, forcing her to discover what she truly believes humanity deserves.
The film is produced by Barry Hirsch, Fred Roos, and Michael Bederman. It is executively produced by Anahid Nazarian, Barrie Osborne, Darren Demetre.
Megalopolis had its world premiere in Competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and will next be screened in a gala presentation at the Toronto International Film Festival on the 9th September.
