Looking for somewhere festive to get into the Christmas spirit? A Christmas market is always a safe bet – so here are some of the ones to explore if you can fit them in!
London’s Covent Garden Market: filled with glittering lights, plenty of places to shop and eat as well as dazzling decorations, Covent Garden is a great place to get some festive spirit! The markets themselves are filled with stalls that contain handmade crafts and unique gifts for Christmas. Meanwhile, in addition there will be mulled wine stations and festive-themed photo opportunities.
Vienna’s Christmas Markets: now officially open and running until at least the 23rd December, Vienna is a perfect place to get some festive cheer. Whether it is the Viennese Dream Christmas market in front of the city hall or the Christmas market at Schönbrunn Palace – there are plenty of places to immerse yourself in the Winter season.
London’s Southbank Centre Christmas Market: ideally situated beside the river Thames, the Southbank Centre’s annual Christmas market allows visitors to stroll along at their leisure under twinkling lights while picking up gifts for friends and family as well as enjoying a hot chocolate or mulled wine while you browse…
Prague Christmas Markets: the main Christmas markets are situated in the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square (which is a really aptly named place to have a Christmas market on the basis of the Christmas Carol), but there are other smaller ones to look into such as at Republic Square and Na Kampě Square. Whichever one that you choose to visit, prepare to indulge in Christmas music, hand-crafted goods, hearty food and local drinks.
Head to Bruges to get festive: there are two main Christmas markets to visit in Bruges, with each having a unique style, with the Markt (Market Square) being a traditional festive market with the Simon Stevinplein Market emphasising is on short chain and craft products. The markets are on until the 5th January 2025 – so still plenty of time to visit!
Winter Wonder and Christmas Market in Brussels: on from the 29th November until the 5th January 2025, the Winter Wonders and Christmas market event takes place at the Grand-Place and city centre of Brussels. During this time there is a Christmas market with more than 200 chalets, a range of attractions including: Ferris wheel, merry-go-rounds, curling and ice rink for skating (Place de Brouckère), Christmas Tour (Tootbus) and sound and light event among other events!
