NEWS: New Greek Restaurant HERA Officially Open

The restaurant based in Stratford is inspired by a love for Greece and Greek food. 

Named after the Greek goddess Hera, this family-owned restaurant based in East London is officially open for business to welcome guests to share a love of Greece and Greek cuisine.

Internationally recognised John Skotidas has been appointed as Executive Head Chef to bring his culinary expertise to HERA and elevate everyday Greek classic dishes into a modern-day menu.

Guests will be taken through a journey of Greek food where vegetables, meat and seafood all contribute to creating a varied selection of dishes which have been designed to share.

‘To Begin’ is a selection of mezze dishes are available including Anchovies, Kalamata Olives and of course a selection of dips such as Tarama, Tzatziki and Melitzanao Salata (Smoked Aubergine with Thyme and Honey).

Meanwhile, ’The Garden’ celebrates everything that has come from the ground and features classic dishes such as Vegetable Moussaka, Gemista (stuffed courgettes) and Feta Sagnaki. 

For those looking for something a bit meatier, then guests will want to check out the ‘The Farm’ section of the menu which includes Grilled Baby Chicken with Herb Salt, Beef Meatballs and Lamb Chops. Those who enjoy their seafood will need to take a look at the ‘The Sea’  section of the menu which includes a variety of options including Grilled Octopus, Wild Sea Bass and of course Calamari.

The restaurant also offers a a HERA cocktail which can be enjoyed in the Cocktail Lounge located at the front of the restaurant. Signature cocktails include Helen of Spice (a twist on a Spicy Margarita) and Dates in Crete (a twist on an Old Fashioned) or whisk yourself away to warmer climes with a refreshing Nymph Minthe or Karpuzi Island.

Located in the heart of Stratford Cross, HERA is located not far from ABBA Arena, and directly opposite the much anticipated V&A Museum which will open in Spring 2026.
