NEWS: OffWestEnd Awards Mark 15th Anniversary with Major Relaunch

With 2025 marking the 15th anniversary of the awards, it has been announced the Offies will undergo a rebrand

The news will see the awards abolishing the category model and moving forward with dynamic and flexible Areas of Exceptional Contribution. This change will mean that the awards will be able to recognise exciting forms and creatives as they emerge.

Formed in 2010, the awards have expanded from 17 categories and five public vote awards to 48 categories and nine public vote awards by 2024.

The new Areas are Production, Staging, Performance, Design, Music, Creation, Inclusion, and Innovation. Meanwhile, specialised areas such as Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) and Immersive, Devised, Experimental or Atypical (IDEA) will now be given equal prominence alongside the main awards.

Also moving forward, the Offies will merge its current nominee/finalist system. Assessors will no longer give nominations but instead their top picks will be named Assessor’s Choice. Independent of this they will recommend individual contributions to the panel for the awards, with the Super-Assessors attending recommended shows and issuing nominations accordingly which will offer a higher bar for nomination and ensure only the most outstanding productions are recognised, free from the constraints of previous categories.

Further announcements about the awards will be announced in due course.
