NEWS: Sunny Afternoon Announces Brand New UK Tour

It has been announced that the Olivier Award winning Sunny Afternoon will embark on a brand new UK tour this Autumn, playing in Manchester until the 18th October before travelling across the rest of the UK.

While casting for the new UK tour has yet to be announced, the musical is directed by by Edward Hall and designed by Miriam Buether with choreography by Adam Cooper. Lighting design is by Rick Fisher with sound design by Matt McKenzie. Musical and vocal adaptations are by Ray Davies and Elliott Ware based on original Kinks’ recordings.

Sunny Afternoon charts the early life and career of the members of The Kinks and features the classic songs such as “You Really Got Me”, “Waterloo Sunset”, “All Day and All of the Night” and “Lola”.

The musical originally opened at the Hampstead Theatre, before heading to the West End’s Harold Pinter Theatre where it ran for two years. It then went on to win four Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical and Outstanding Achievement in Music for Ray Davies.

Sunny Afternoon features music and lyrics by Ray Davies with a book by Joe Penhall and original story by Ray Davies.
