NEWS: Alicia Vikander & Andrew Lincoln to Star in The Lady From The Sea

It has been announced that Alicia Vikander and Andrew Lincoln will star in a revival of  Henrik Ibsen’s The Lady from the Sea at the Bridge Theatre, officially opening on the 18th September.

This new adaptation of the play has been adapted and is set to be directed by Simon Stone.

The production will see Vikander star as Ellida, who is re-evaluating her marriage to Edward (Andrew Lincoln) and her life when the arrival of a former lover disrupts her life.

Presented by London Theatre Company in collaboration with Wouter van Ransbeek, this marks Stone’s debut at the Bridge.

Talking about the news, Simon Stone (Yerma at the Young Vic and Phaedra at the National Theatre) said: “I’m over the moon to have found a new London home in the beautiful Bridge Theatre. The space is exhilarating, versatile, incredibly intimate.”

“Alicia was born to play this role. She grew up watching Ibsen in his original language. His myths course through her veins. She’s totally mesmerising to watch inhabit a character. The truth emanates from her.”

Further casting and creative team have yet to be announced with tickets for the production going on general sale on the 13th May.
