The revival of the musical featuring a score by ABBA’s Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus with Tim Rice , will head to Broadway later this year.

It has been announced that the musical Chess will be revived on Broadway for the first time later this year.
The musical follows the story of a Cold War-era chess tournament between an American and a Soviet. As well as a score by Andersson, Ulvaeus and Tim Rice, this production of the musical will include a new book by Danny Strong.
Directed by Michael Mayer, the musical is set to star Aaron Tveit, Lea Michele, and Nicholas Christopher. Tveit will play Freddie Trumper, Michele will take on the role of Florence Vassey, and Christopher is Anatoly Sergievsky.
Further casting and details for the production have yet to be announced.
Chess was originally released as a concept album 1984 and went on to have a three year run in the West End with a book by Tim Rice. The Broadway run in 1988 featured a book by Richard Nelson and ran for two months.
This revival will feature oreography by Lorin Latarro and music supervision by Brian Usifer. Additional information will be revealed soon.
