The National Theatre production, directed by Max Webster will head to the West End this Autumn.

It has been confirmed that Max Webster’s production of Oscar Wilde’s comedy will transfer to the Noel Coward Theatre this Autumn, running from the 18th September until the 10th January 2026.
Being sensible can be excessively boring. At least Jack thinks so. While assuming the role of dutiful guardian in the country, he lets loose in town under a false identity.
Meanwhile, his friend Algy takes on a similar facade. Unfortunately, living a double life has its drawbacks, especially when it comes to love.
Hoping to impress two eligible ladies, the gentlemen find themselves caught in a web of lies they must carefully navigate.
In addition, it has been announced that singer, songwriter, actor and producer Olly Alexander will be starring in the West End transfer as Algernon Moncrieff. Further casting is to be announced.
Joining Max Webster on the creative team are: set and costume designer Rae Smith, lighting designer Jon Clark, sound designer Nicola T Chang, movement director Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, and composer DJ Walde. Additional team members include physical comedy advisor Joyce Henderson, intimacy coordinator Ingrid Mackinnon, casting director Alastair Coomer, dialect coach Hazel Holder and voice coach Shereen Ibrahim.
Tickets will go on general sale on the 16th June.
