The Pulitzer Prize-winning play will begin performances at at a Shubert theatre to be announced next spring.

It has been announced that Emmy, SAG, and Golden Globe Award winner Ayo Edebiri and Academy Award nominee, two-time Golden Globe Award winner, and 11-time Emmy Award nominee Don Cheadle will make their Broadway debuts in the revival of David Auburn’s Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning play Proof.
Directed by Tony Award winner Thomas Kail and produced by Mike Bosner and Kail, the production is set to begin previews on the 31st March 2026, with official opening night set for the 16th April 2026.
The play made its world premiere Off Broadway in 2000 and scored six Tony nominations after its Broadway transfer, winning three including for Best Play and Best Actress in a Play for its star Mary-Louise Parker.
Proof follows the story of Catherine whose father Robert a recently deceased mathematical genius in his fifties and professor suffered with mental illness – something that Catherine fears that she will also suffer with. Meanwhile, her father’s graduate student also becomes entwined with Catherine as the authenticity of a potentially groundbreaking proof found in her father’s papers is questioned.
The creative team behind the production is set to include: Oscar winner Kris Bowers (original music), Teresa L. Williams (scenic design), Dede Ayite (costume design), Amanda Zieve (lighting design) and Daniel Swee (casting director).
