Love London Love Culture’s Theatre Picks: September 2025

The Weir, Harold Pinter Theatre: following its run in Dublin, Conor McPherson’s play returns to London for the first time in a decade, starring Brendan Gleeson making his West End debut as Jack. The play is set to begin performances in the West End on the 12th September and run until the 6th December.

Entertaining Mr Sloane, Young Vic Theatre: launching her first season at the Young Vic Theatre, Nadia Fall brings Joe Orton’s 1964 cult classic back to the stage from the 15th September until the 8th November. Starring Tamzin Outhwaite (Abigail’s Party) as Kath and Jordan Stephens (Rizzle Kicks) as the enigmatic Mr Sloane, it is a story manipulation, wit and seduction.

The Producers, Garrick Theatre: it is hard to believe it has been twenty years since Mel Brooks’s musical comedy has been seen in the West End but it returns now, following a successful run at the Menier Chocolate Factory. Now booking at the Garrick Theatre until the 21st February 2026, the cast includes: Andy Nyman as Max Bialystock, Marc Antolin as Leo Bloom, Trevor Ashley as Roger DeBris, Raj Ghatak as Carmen Ghia, Harry Morrison as Franz Liebkind, and Joanna Woodward as Ulla.

Emma, Rose Theatre (Kingston-Upon-Thames): with 2025 marking the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, the Rose Theatre will present a new adaptation of her sparkling novel ‘Emma’. Adapted for the stage by Ava Pickett and directed by Christopher Haydon, the production’s cast is led by Amelia Kenworthy as the title character and Kit Young as George Knightly. It will run at the theatre from the 17th September until the 11th October.

Reunion, Kiln Theatre: the London premiere of Mark O’Rowe’s play is set to the take place this Autumn. From the 11th September until the 11th October, audiences can catch this family drama that originally ran in Galway and Dublin last year, starring Lloyd Anderson(Aonghus),Venetia Bowe (Janice), Stephen Brennan (Felix), Leonard Buckley (Ciaran), Simone Collins (Holly), Desmond Eastwood (Stuart), and Catherine Walker (Gina), joined by Peter Corboy (Maurice) and Kate Gilmore (Marilyn).

Get Down Tonight, Charing Cross Theatre: for those who are looking for a fun night out, might want to head to the Charing Cross Theatre for this musical which is based on the early years of singer, songwriter, producer and musician Harry Wayne Casey (KC). Featuring over twenty of KC and the Sunshine Band’s legendary hits, the musical will run in London from the 19th September until the 15th November.

Romans, Almeida Theatre: Award-winning writer Alice Birch’s (Anatomy of a SuicideNormal People) exploration of masculinity from the nineteenth century to the present day heads to the stage this September in a production directed by Sam Pritchard. Running for a strictly limited season from the 9th September until the 11th October, the production is set to star Olivier Award winner Kyle Soller (The InheritanceAndor).  

50 First Dates the Musical, The Other Palace: this brand new musical based on the film starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore takes to The Other Palace stage from the 14th September, it features  a  book, music and lyrics by David Rossmer and Steve Rosen (The Other Josh Cohen) as well as being directed by  Casey Nicholaw.

Creditors, Orange Tree Theatre: Charles Dance, Geraldine James, and Nicholas Farrell reunite (having appeared in The Jewel in the Crown together) to star in Howard Brenton’s adaptation of August Strindberg’s play about marriage and manipulation. It will run at the the theatre from the 6th September until the 11th October.

Punch, Apollo Theatre: following acclaimed runs at the Nottingham Playhouse and Young Vic Theatre, James Graham’s play based on true events that are described in Jacob Dunne’s book Right From Wrong heads to the West End for 10 weeks only from the 22nd September.
