Broadway Shows to Look Out for This Autumn….

Chess, Imperial Theatre: this Broadway revival of the Andersson, Ulvaeus and Tim Rice musical is set to be one of the major highlight’s of the Broadway season when it opens for previews from the 15th October. Officially opening on the 16th November, this production features a stellar cast led by Aaron Tviet, Lea Michele and Nicholas Christopher in a production directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer.  

Beetlejuice, Palace Theatre: the fan favourite returns to Broadway from the 8th October! Based on the beloved Tim Burton film, the musical returns to New York for 13 weeks only. The cast is set to include: Justin Collette, Isabella Esler, Will Burton, Megan McGinnis, Jenni Barber, Jesse Sharp.

Punch, Samuel J.Friedman Theatre: following runs in Nottingham and the West End, James Graham’s play based on the book by Jacob Dunne is now in previews in New York. Officially opening on the 29th September, it is a story of redemption and forgiveness in the light of terrible tragedy. The cast for the American run includes: Camila Canó-Flaviá, Victoria Clark, Will Harrison, Cody Kostro, Piter Marek, Sam Robards and Lucy Taylor.

The Queen of Versailles, St James Theatre: this new musical is based on the  2012 documentary of the same name, following the story of Jackie and David Siegel who are building a gigantic mansion, Versailles, in central Florida. Having had its premiere at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre in summer 2024, the musical features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and is set to star Kristin Chenoweth, F. Murray Abraham, Melody Butiu, Stephen DeRosa, Greg Hildreth, Tatum Grace Hopkins, Isabel Keating and Nina White.

Waiting for Godot, Hudson Theatre: Jamie Lloyd directs Keanu Reeves making his Broadway debut as as ‘Estragon’ and Alex Winter as ‘Vladimir’ in this revival of Samuel Beckett’s play, which will officially open on Broadway on the 28th September.

Art, Music Box Theatre: Yasmina Reza’s comedy is now in previews on Broadway. Directed by Scott Ellis and translated for the stage by Christopher Hampton, this revival of the play stars Bobby Cannavale, James Corden, Neil Patrick Harris as three friends debate what art really means, uncovering hidden resentments along the way.

Ragtime, Vivian Beaumont Theatre: beginning previews on the 26th September, the musical written by Stephen Flaherty (music), Lynn Ahrens (lyrics), Terrence McNally (book) is being directed Lear deBessonet. The musical is based on E.L. Doctorow’s novel and includes in its cast Joshua Henry, Caissie Levy, Brandon Uranowitz and  Colin Donnell.
