NEWS: Edmund Morris’s The Grim to Play at the Southwark Playhouse

It has been announced that following runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Old Red Lion Theatre, Edmund Morris’s horror comedy will head to the Southwark Playhouse this Winter.

Two undertakers. A dead murderer. What could possibly go wrong?

London, 1964. Shaun and Robert are trying to get through another dull day as undertakers in the East End, but on the day they’re due to fit deceased murderer, Jackie Gallagher for his coffin, and with strange happenings afoot, all is not as it seems…

The cast comprises of writer Edmund Morris (You’re Dead to Me, UK Tour; Macbeth, UK Tour; The Grim, Underbelly Edinburgh) as Shaun, Louis Davison (Poltergeist, Arcola Theatre; Vikings Valhalla, Netflix; Poldark, BBC) as Robert, and Harry Carter (Magic Mike’s Last Dance, Warner Bros, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Universal Pictures) as Jack.

Talking about the news, director Ben Woodhall said: “This show is a real gift to a director. The clarity of the characters, wit of the dialogue, unexpected twists of the plot and the melding of genres, are all embedded in the writing. It is a real testament to Edmund’s unique and creative voice. Audiences should expect belly laughs, genuine thrills and a show that continually takes you by surprise.”
