The new exhibitions will include NIGO: From Japan with Love, a display devoted to Es Devlin and The Nue Black Aesthetic.

The Design Museum has unveiled details of its 2026 exhibition programme.
Opening on the 13th February, PLATFORM: Simone Brewster will go on display. This latest in the museum’s annual exhibitions showcasing contemporary design practice, will focus on the work of designer Simone Brewster. She is known for work which features references from palaeolithic fertility deities to African diasporic traditions. It will be on display until January 2027.
Meanwhile, NIGO: From Japan with Love will open to the public from the 1st May until the 4th October 2026. This exhibition will explore the vision and legacy of Japanese designer. It will offer a glimpse into NIGO’s world, from his own personal collection of vintage clothing and Americana ephemera to his close network of collaborators.
The museum will also present the first UK exhibition devoted to the work of Es Devlin in the first UK exhibition dedicated to the artist and designer’s 30-year practice in sculpture, performance, language and light. On display from the 18th September until the 11th April 2027, this display will showcase rare maquettes, sketches, annotated texts and process materials as well as new large scale new projection-mapped sculptures and kinetic installations.
From the 6th November 2026 until the 8th August 2027, the Design Museum will present The Nue Black Aesthetic, an exhibition that focuses on celebrating the achievements of designers who are reshaping the British design landscape and will feature works spanning furniture, architecture, fashion, and installation. It will feature works by designers such as Mac Collins, Samuel Ross, Bianca Saunder and Giles Tettey Nartey. This exhibition is guest-curated by the founder of A Vibe Called Tech and author of Now You See Me: An Introduction to 100 Years of Black Design, Charlene Prempeh.
