The museum has unveiled details as to what visitors can expect in 2027.
The museum has announced an exhibition programme that will span from punk to pop culture in the 1970s and 80s, contemporary sculpture and the creativity of South Asia across all of its sites in V&A South Kensington, V&A East Museum, and V&A Dundee.
At the V&A South Kensington, the year will begin with exhibition Punk to Pop which will go on display in March. This will be a show that celebrates music, art and fashion that will
trace how the underground scenes of 1972-1985 and a generation of radical artists
shaped the future of popular culture. Next, Sculpture in Clay will explore how artists
have reinterpreted, subverted and challenged traditional ceramic practice to produce
groundbreaking new work, bringing together leading figures in contemporary
sculpture. The year concludes with Chintz, an exhibition that will unveil the 400-year
history of the South Indian fabric that has been loved, hated, and continually
rediscovered across time.
In 2027, V&A East Museum will open its second exhibition South Asia Now: Fashion. Art. Design. This landmark exhibition will explore the extraordinary creativity, innovation and global influence emerging from South Asia today. V&A Dundee will explore the role of jewellery in the aesthetic of one of the UK’s most famous fashion houses, when Vivienne Westwood & Jewellery makes its UK debut in March.
