The new production of the musical will open at the Shaftesbury Theatre from the 20th March until the 29th August 2026.
Produced by Kevin McCollum and Jamie Wilson Productions, it has also been confirmed that the production will the original Broadway puppets and reunite members of the creative team behind the musical’s debut.
Written by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, with a book by Jeff Whitty, the musical follows Princeton who has recently graduated from college and moved into a downtown New York apartment where he learns about life from his eccentric neighbours.
Avenue Q originally premiered in the West End in 2006 at the Noël Coward Theatre before transferring to the Gielgud and later the Wyndham’s, closing in 2010. Meanwhile, a concert version to celebrate its 18th anniversary took place in 2024.
This revival of the musical will be directed by Jason Moore, with the production also featuring puppet design by Rick Lyon, orchestrations and arrangements by Stephen Oremus and set design by Anna Louizos. Choreography will come from Ebony Molina, with casting by Pearson Casting and further creatives to be announced.
The show will run in a reduced capacity Shaftesbury Theatre while the theatre is undergoing renovation.
