The film, starring James Sweeney, Dylan O’Brien and Aisling Franciosi, will be released in cinemas early next year.

It has been announced by Park Circus that the 2025 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award winner ‘Twinless’ will be released in UK & Ireland cinemas on the 6th February 2026.
Written and directed by James Sweeney (Straight Up), he also stars alongside Dylan O’Brien (Saturday Night, Caddo Lake, Ponyboi, The Outfit, The Maze Runner, Teen Wolf) and Aisling Franciosi (The Fall, Speak No Evil, God’s Creatures, Stop Motion, The Nightingale).
The film is about two young men who meet in a twin bereavement support group and form an unlikely bromance. It won the Grand Jury Prize (Dramatic), Audience Award and Special Jury Award for Best Acting in a US Dramatic for Dylan O’Brien at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.
Twinless also won Best Director at the Seattle International Film Festival and Directors to Watch at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. It also won Best Narrative Feature, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Cinematography at FilmOut San Diego, US and most recently screened at the BFI London Film Festival 2025.
After meeting in a twin bereavement support group, Roman (Dylan O’Brien) and Dennis (James Sweeney) develop an unlikely bromance as they both search for solace and an identity without their better halves. They soon become inseparable, but old wounds reopen that will have permanent consequences for their friendship.
Talking about the film, James Sweeney (Director, Writer, Producer, Actor) said: “Twinless explores themes of loneliness, identity, and forgiveness. I think: loneliness is a killer, identity is amorphous, and forgiveness is underrated. There’s a fourth theme I am omitting, but you’ll understand why later.
An emotional and factual truth: I love this film and the team who carried it with me for many years. We are excited for UK and Irish audiences to have the Twinless experience. We are born alone and we die alone but we can watch movies together… in theatres.”
The film has been produced by David Permut and James Sweeney and also stars Chris Perfetti, Francois Arnaud, Cree, Susan Park, with Tasha Smith and Lauren Graham.
