With the group celebrating their 25th anniversary and heading out on tour this year, we take a look at some of our favourite Westlife songs.
Hello My Love: while Westlife are best known for their heartfelt ballads, they have also released some uplifting songs as well and ‘Hello My Love’ is certainly one of the best that they have released over the years. Released in 2019 from their 11th studio album ‘Spectrum’ it was a real highlight from the album as a whole.
My Love: taken from the group’s second studio album ‘Coast to Coast’ when the original five were all together, this song debuted at number one when it was released on the 30th October 2000. It’s soaring musicality and sincere lyrics make it still a very popular song to this day.
Flying Without Wings: it would be remiss of us not to mention the group’s third single from their self-titled debut album, which is unsurprisingly one of their biggest hits to date. It showcases the wonderful harmonies that they have together as well as the immense talent that has won them so many fans.
Bop Bop Baby: released on the 20th May 2002 as the third and final single from their third studio album ‘World Of Our Own’ still remains to be a danceable and catchy tune. The song was written by band members Brian McFadden and Shane Filan alongside Graham Murphy and Chris O’Brien. It is certainly one of the catchiest songs that the group have released.
If I Let You Go: released as the group’s second single in 1999, it was also their second number one hit and spent 11 weeks on the UK singles chart. It is easy to see why the song remains popular as it incapsulates every aspect that has made the group so loved by their fans.
Fool Again: the sheer heartbreak expressed in the vocals so beautifully controlled by Mark Feehily and Shane Filan, which combined with the harmonies of the rest of the group for a poignant song about heartbreak showcasing how relatable the songs that Westlife have chosen to release have been.
World of Our Own: this is such a pop song – specifically you can tell that it has been released in the early 200’s – which is no bad thing. It is fun, uplifting and simply a great tune to dance around to.
