The revival of Stephen Sondheim’s musical will take place at the Barbican in the Summer of 2027.
It has been announced that Jonathan Bailey and Ariana Grande are set to star in a brand new production of Sunday in the Park With George at the Barbican in 2027 – the first major London revival of the musical in almost two decades.
The musical features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Lapine. It is loosely based on the life of artist Georges Seurat, responsible for large-scale work A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.
This production will Bailey and Grande reuniting following their performances in the film adaptation of Wicked.
Sunday in the Park With George will be directed for this production by Marianne Elliott, who has previously directed Jonathan Bailey on ‘Cock’ and Company’. It will feature design by Tom Scutt.
The musical is being produced by Empire Street Productions and presented in association with the Barbican.
Further information about the production will be announced soon, with tickets going on sale in May 2026.
