The news of the musical’s transfer comes after runs at the Southwark Playhouse and Ambassadors Theatre in London.
It has been announced that the musical adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald’s short story will be playing at New York’s Public Theater’s Newman Theatre this autumn, following the show’s run at Ambassadors Theatre in London from 2024 to 2025.
Following the story Benjamin Button – a man who ages in reverse, the musical features a book and lyrics by Jethro Compton and music and lyrics by Darren Clark. It is also directed by Compton, with choreography by Chi-San Howard.
The show had its first run at the Southwark Playhouse in 2019, before transferring to the Ambassadors Theatre. the show won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical, alongside two other prizes.
Further details about the New York run of the musical have yet to be announced.
