Lindsay Posner’s production of Peter Shaffer’s play officially opens tonight (18th May) and will continue to play until the 4th July, before heading to Theatre Royal Bath from 14th to 25th July.
Production images have now been released for the latest revival of Peter Shaffer’s Equus.
This co-production between the Menier Chocolate Factory and Theatre Royal Bath stars: Toby Stephens (Dr. Martin Dysart), Amanda Abbington (Hesther Salomon), Bella Aubin (Jill Mason), Emma Cunniffe (Dora Strang), Paula James (Nurse), Colin Mace (Frank Strang), Ed Mitchell (Nugget/Young Horseman), David Rubin (Dalton) and Noah Valentine (Alan Strang), with Luke Hodkinson, Aristide Lyons, Zach Parkin, Tommi Sutton and Moses Ward.
What prompts a 17-year-old boy to blind six horses? This is the challenge presented to psychiatrist Martin Dysart as he delves into the psyche of his young patient Alan Strang to search for the answers and at the same time questioning whether the cure is more dangerous than the crime.
Having first premiered in 1973, this revival of the play will feature a creative team formed of set and costume designer Paul Farnsworth, lighting designer Paul Pyant, composer and sound designer Adam Cork and movement director James Cousins.
