Tim Sheader’s production will play at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane from the 16th October until the 9th January.

It has been announced that following its run at the London Palladium this summer, Jesus Christ Superstar starring Sam Ryder will transfer to the Theatre Royal Lane for a run.
Joining Sam Ryder in the Theatre Royal Drury Lane cast will be: Desmonda Cathabel as Mary Magdalene, David Thaxton as Pontius Pilate, Bob Harms as Caiaphas, Matty J as Annas and Phil King as Peter.
The ensemble company includes Koko Alexandra, Jasmine Jules Andrews, Courtney Arango, Amy Barker, Alistair Beattie, Daniel Bowskill, Jahlil M Burke, Martha Burton, Marcelo Cervone, Sarah Freer, Sebastian Goffin, Alexander Kranz, Owen Lloyd, Milo McCarthy, Dan Moore, Cherece Richards, Kyle Richardson, Olivia Saunders, Toyan Thomas-Browne, Charley Warburton and Lillie-Pearl Wildman.
Casting for Judas Iscariot, Simon and King Herod for the Drury Lane has yet to be announced.
First released as a concept album, the musical tells the story of the final weeks of Jesus’s life, focusing on his relationship with Judas Iscariot. It premiered on Broadway in 1971, before premiering in the West End the following year.
The Time Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber musical includes songs such as “Gethsemane”, “Heaven on their Minds” and “I Don’t Know How To Love Him”.
As well as being directed by Tim Sheader, the production features choreography by Drew McOnie and design by Tom Scutt. The creative team also includes musical supervisor Tom Deering, lighting designer Lee Curran, sound designer Adam Fisher, wigs, hair and makeup designers Sam Cox and Maria Johal, fight director Kate Waters and casting directors Grindrod Burton Casting.
