NEWS: Lovers of Indian Cuisine Can Tour India’s Culinary Hotspots with Top Chelsea Chef

It has been announced that Chef-patron Peter Joseph from Chelsea’s Kahani has partnered with Bestway Tours & Safaris to launch a fully hosted 19-day culinary journey through India this November.

Rather than a traditional food tour, the trip is designed as a deep dive into the regions, kitchens and traditions that shaped Peter’s cooking. From Old Delhi spice markets and Lucknow’s Nawabi cuisine to Kerala backwaters, Chettinad and Chennai, where he was born and raised.

Among the highlights of the tour are:

  • A rare full moon visit to the Taj Mahal
  • Private home dining and regional cooking sessions
  • Street food tours through Old Delhi and Madurai
  • An overnight Kerala houseboat stay with meals cooked onboard
  • Access to local chefs, markets and family kitchens throughout

The full itinerary can be found here.

With places limited to 20 people, the tour costs £5,995 per person sharing / £1,890 single supplement (excluding flights and visa fees).

This will be a rare opportunity to travel alongside a leading London chef as he returns to the regions, kitchens and traditions that have shaped his cooking. The tour has been created in partnership with Bestway Tours & Safaris, combining Joseph’s personal insight with a carefully curated, fully hosted itinerary.

Joseph opened Kahani following his tenure as Head Chef at Tamarind in Mayfair – one of the first Indian restaurants in the world to receive a Michelin star – where he played a key role in shaping modern Indian fine dining in the capital.

Throughout the journey, cooking experiences form the backbone of the itinerary, from Mughlai dishes in Agra to coconut-rich coastal curries in Cochin and spice-led cuisine in the Western Ghats, offering guests a hands-on understanding of India’s regional diversity.

Peter Joseph says “This is about going beyond what you see on the plate. I can’t wait to share the people, places and traditions that have shaped how I cook, and experiencing India in a way that feels personal, immersive and real.”
