The film will be released in cinemas on the 30th October, ahead of Netflix release on the 18th November.
Netflix has now released a teaser trailer for Marie Kreutzer’s new film, which she has written and directed.
The follow up to Kreutzer’s critically acclaimed film Corsage- which was Austria’s submission for Best International Feature at the 95th Academy Awards, Gentle Monster is a thriller about trust and survival.
The film tells the story of concert pianist Lucy (Léa Seydoux), who has just relocated her family to a country house hoping to ease her husband Philip’s (Laurence Rupp) severe burnout. Before they have a chance to set up their new home, an early morning police visit tears their life apart. It asks the question: what we do when someone we love turns out to be someone we never really knew?
Gentle Monster had its world premiere in Competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and will also be seen at the Toronto International Film Festival . It has been produced by Alexander Glehr and Johanna Scherz.
