The production, directed by Trevor Nunn, will take place at the Marylebone Theatre from the 30th October until the 3rd January 2027.
It has been announced that Janie Dee will star as American investigative journalist Dorothy Kilgallen in the world premiere of ‘Speculations’ by Torben Betts, officially opening at the Marylebone Theatre on the 4th November.
This brand new play will explore Kilgallen’s investigation into the deaths of Marilyn Monroe, President John F Kennedy and Lee Harvey Oswald.
New York, 1965. Celebrated journalist and television star Dorothy Kilgallen is chasing the biggest story of her career.
America has been given its answers. Dorothy doesn’t believe them.
Her investigation leads from Hollywood to the White House, from the Kennedy dynasty to the New Orleans underworld — and towards a web of connections between some of the most powerful and dangerous figures in America.
But someone wants Dorothy to stop asking questions. And as the threats move ever closer to home, uncovering the truth could cost her everything.
Talking about the play, Torben Betts said: “I’ve never believed that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in the assassination of JFK, and I’ve always found the circumstances surrounding Marilyn Monroe’s death deeply suspicious. But since discovering Dorothy Kilgallen and how her investigation began to uncover possible connections between these seemingly separate deaths, I’ve become convinced that hers is a story that needs to be told, and I’d like to do my small part as a playwright to give a voice back to a courageous woman I believe was silenced.”
