The documentary is set to be released in UK & Ireland cinemas on the 6th November.
Dogwoof has released the UK trailer for One in a Million, a new documentary directed by Itab Azzam and Jack Maclnnes.
Filmed over 10 years, the film follows the story of Israa from childhood to adulthood on an extraordinary journey from Syria to Germany and back again. Audiences first meet her at age 11 as she and her family are preparing to cross the Aegean Sea, risking everything in search of safety and a better life in Europe. What unfolds is a deeply personal chronicle of war, exile and heartbreak, as Israa grows up navigating adolescence, identity and belonging far from the home she was forced to leave.
It had its world premiere at Sundance earlier this year, where it won the Audience Award and Directing Award for World Cinema Documentary, and had its UK premiere at Sheffield DocFest on 11th June.
One in a Million was produced by Oscar winner Raney Aronson-Rath (20 Day in Mariupol), Will Anderson, James Bluemel, and Andrew Palmer. Executive producers include David Fialkow and Nina Sing Fialkow, Harriet Gugenheim, Lucie Kon, Jutta Krug, Adam Lewis, Melony Lewis, Patty Quillin, Patty Quillin, and Joseph Schull.
The film is a co-production between Frontline Features and BBC Storyville.
