The news follows the successful run at the Barbican this summer.
It has been announced that Stephen Whitson’s production of Death Note The Musical will return to London next year, playing once more at the Barbican from the 23rd March until the 15th May.
Based on the manga series created by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, the musical features music by Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award nominee Frank Wildhorn, lyrics by Tony nominee Jack Murphy, additional lyrics by Morgan Reilly and a book by Emmy nominee Ivan Menchell.
When brilliant student Light Yagami discovers a notebook with the power to determine who lives and who dies, his mission to reshape society quickly spirals out of control and attracts the attention of the elusive and ruthless detective L. What begins as justice descends into obsession and forces both to confront the limits of morality itself.
The show first headed to the UK, following ten years of acclaimed sold-out
productions across Asia, to be performed in concert at the London Palladium before a full scale production was presented at the Barbican this year.
The creative team also includes: Emmy-nominated designer Jon Bausor (Spirited Away, Bat Out of Hell) and choreography by Olivier Award nominated Fabian Aloise (Evita at the London Palladium and Sunset Boulevard at The Savoy) alongside Jason Howland as orchestration and arranger.
