As one of the happiest musicals ever to be seen on stage, it is great to hear that Hairspray is heading off on another UK tour opening at the Curve Theatre in Leicester on the 9th September.
Cast includes Tony Maudsley as Edna Turnblad, Claire Sweeney as Velma Von Tussle, Peter Duncan as Wilbur Turnblad and Freya Sutton will be reprising her role as Tracy Turnblad.

Set in Baltimore in 1962, Tracy Turnblad dreams of dancing her way onto national television. Her audition makes her a local star and soon starts to use her power to fight for equality. Filled with feel good songs such as ‘Good Morning Baltimore’ and ‘You Can’t Stop the Beat’, it is a fun filled and bold musical that challenges negative stereotypes and difficult not to like!

The production is directed by Paul Kerryson and choreographed by Drew McOnie and brings the 1960’s era back to life!
It should also be mentioned that Tony Maudsley, Claire Sweeney and Peter Duncan’s final performance in Hairspray will be 30 January 2016 at Newcastle Theatre Royal. The cast for the remaining dates on the tour have yet to be announced.
The tour will also be visiting Wimbledon, Woking, Oxford, Liverpool and Manchester. For a full list of dates and to buy tickets visit: http://www.hairsprayuktour.com/
But let us just remind ourselves why this is a great musical to watch if you are feeling down:
