With just 14 weeks left to catch Cameron Mackintosh’s hit musical Miss Saigon at the Prince Edward Theatre where it will close on the 27th February 2016, it has been announced that it will arrive on broadway in Spring 2017.

 

It will be on Broadway for a limited season only before launching its north American tour at the beginning of 2018. The return of Miss Saigon to Broadway will see the acclaimed London stars of the show Jon Jon Briones as ‘The Engineer’ and Eva Noblezada as ‘Kim’ reprising their roles for the run.

Miss Saigon returned to the London stage in 2014, when it opened at the Prince Edward Theatre in the heart of the West End. In September 2014, the musical celebrated 25 years since it first premiered at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane during which Jonathan Pryce, Lea Salonga and Simon Bowman starred in the production.

The London production currently stars: Jon Jon Briones as ‘The Engineer’, Eva Noblezada as ‘Kim’, Chris Peluso as ‘Chris’, Siobhan Dillon as ‘Ellen’, Hugh Maynard as ‘John’, Sangwoong Jo ‘Thuy’ and Natalie Mendoza as ‘Gigi’. From 14 December 2015 Marsha Songcome will play the role of ‘Gigi’.

Since it originally premiered in London in 1989, Miss Saigon has become one of the most successful musicals ever created. It won nine awards at this years Whatsonstage Awards including Best Show as well as 40 other awards including two Olivier Awards and three Tony Awards.

This new production of Miss Saigon will open in Japan next year and over the next few years in Germany, Australia, Asia and tour around the UK, Europe and the Middle East.
