Multi-award winning actress Glenn Close will make her West End debut in this Andrew Lloyd Webber classic at the English National Opera. Listen to her talking about preparing for her role here:

Having won a Tony-award for her performance as Norma Desmond, which she last performed in the 1990’s in LA, she will be reprising her role when the production comes to the London Coliseum in April.

Sunset Boulevard  is a tale of romance and obsession, which is based on Billy Wilder’s film, with books and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton.

When impoverished screen-writer Joe Gillis comes across the reclusive world of Norma Desmond, she sees her opportunity to make her comeback and rise to glory again. He in turn is seduced by the actress and her lifestyle. But this relationship that they have entangled themselves in has tragic consequences…

This semi-staged production is directed by Lonny Price, who returns to the English National Opera following the successful production of Sweeney Todd.

The production will feature a score including With One Look, The Perfect Year and of course the title track Sunset Boulevard.

Sunset Boulevard will run at the London Coliseum for 43 performances from the 1st April to the 7th May. To book tickets visit: Ticketmaster.co.uk, UK Tickets.co.uk, Discount Theatre.com, Theatre People.com, Love Theatre.com and Theatre Tickets Direct.co.uk
