Full details of those who will be joining Glenn Close in English National Opera’s semi-stage production of Sunset Boulevard have been revealed.

Running at the London Coliseum from the 1st April to the 7th May, Sunset Boulevard will see Glenn Close making her West End debut, playing Norma Desmond – a role she last played 20 years ago.

Filled with familiar songs such as ‘With One Look’ and ‘ The Perfect Year’ which will be performed by the ENO’s orchestra and directed by Lonny Price (last at the ENO directing Sweeney Todd), this is a rare opportunity to see this musical on stage.

Now new casting details have been released for the run of 43 performances. The production will also feature the talents of: Michael Xavier (playing Joe Gillis), Siobhan Dillon (in the role of Betty Shaefer) and Fred Johanson (as Max Von Mayerling), Julian Forsyth as Cecil B DeMille, Mark Goldthorp as Sheldrake, Fenton Gray as Manfred, Haydn Oakley as Artie Green and James Paterson as Jonesy.

Final casting for the production will be announced shortly.

When impoverished screenwriter Joe Gillis stumbles into the reclusive world of faded silent-screen goddess Norma Desmond, she sees the opportunity to make a comeback and rise to her former glory. He by turn is seduced by the actress and her luxurious lifestyle.  But the entanglement between the pair is to have dramatic and tragic consequences.

Orchestrations are by David Cullen and Andrew Lloyd Webber, featuring choreography by Stephen Mear, set designs by James Noone, costume designs by Tracy Christensen, Glenn Close’s costumes designs by Anthony Powell, sound by Mick Potter and lighting by Mark Henderson.

The Musical Director is Michael Reed who will also be conducting during the performances.
