It has been confirmed that Hollywood actress Rebel Wilson will be playing the role of Miss Adelaide in the London production of Guys and Dolls from the 28th June – for a limited season only.
The actress will join the cast as the bubbly Miss Adelaide for eight weeks, from the 28th June to the 21st August.
This news comes as the musical announces a new booking period at the Phoenix Theatre, with tickets now available to buy until the 7th January 2017.
Talking about the news, Rebel Wilson said: “I am delighted to be making my West End debut in Guys and Dolls and to be playing such an iconic role as ‘Miss Adelaide’ is truly an honour. Hopefully I crush it….but you’ll have to come and see me to find out!”
The actress is best known for her roles in ‘Pitch Perfect’ and ‘Bridesmaids’. She has also made appearances in ‘How to be Single’ and ‘Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb’.
Guys and Dolls currently stars Nigel Lindsay as Nathan Detroit and Samantha Spiro as Miss Adelaide who will have their final performance on Saturday 26 June. Further casting for the production will be announced soon.
Nathan Detroit is desperate: he needs money for an illegal dice game, and he needs it fast. Not to mention a 14 year engagement with night‑club singer Miss Adelaide whose patience is finally running out. Enter notorious gambler Sky Masterson, a guy who can never turn down a bet, and straight‑laced missionary Sarah Brown, a doll with a heart of ice. The wager: Sky has to romance Sarah by taking her to Havana for dinner and in return he’ll provide a dozen ‘sinners’ for Sarah’s mission. Surely this is one bet Nathan absolutely can’t lose?
The hit musical is directed by Gordon Greenberg, features choreography by Carlos Acosta and Andrew Wright as well as designs by Peter McKintosh.
