A new clip featuring Emma Watson and Michael Nyqvist has been released ahead of The Colony’s release in cinemas and on demand on the 1st July. 

The scene shows Lena (Emma Watson) and the charismatic Paul Schäfe leader of the German sect in Chile in a tense standoff.

The Colony follows one woman’s efforts to save the man she loves from brutal cult as she takes a dark journey in Florian Gallenberger’s new thriller.

As well as Emma Watson and Michael Nyqvist, the cast also includes Daniel Brühl as Daniel and Julian Ovenden.

The film is set amidst the Chilean coup of 1973 and depicts a young couple caught up in events outside of their control as they are arrested by Pinochet’s secret police for producing propaganda against the regime.

It has been filmed with the input of from real-life survivors of the Colonia Dignid and examines closely one of history’s lesser remembered atrocities as well as giving audiences an opportunity to see Emma Watson in a way that they have never done before.

The Colony is released in cinemas and on demand on the 1st July.
