2017 will hopefully deliver some high quality films to draw cinema audiences in – so what films should we look out for in particular?
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales – putting aside everything going on in Johnny Depp’s personal life, this latest instalment in the hugely successful series is one of the highest anticipated films to be released next year and sees Orlando Bloom return to the cast as well. Let’s hope the film will live up to the hype and not disappoint longstanding fans of the franchise… May 2017.
Baywatch – the hugely popular American television series is coming to the big screen next year, starring Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson – with a few other familiar faces thrown in as well. It will be interesting to see if the format will work as well on film as it does on television. May 2017.
Kong: Skull Island – with a stellar cast including Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson to name a few, audiences looking for a little bit of adventure will most certainly turn their attention to this film.
Beauty and the Beast – Disney are currently on form with their live action versions of their animated films and Beauty and the Beast is the next eagerly anticipated one. Starring Emma Watson as Belle, this film will hopefully bring the same of magic that the original animated film did, while making it feel refreshing and suitable for a modern audience. March 2017.
Fifty Shades Darker – the first film was controversial and many fans of the book were disappointed in the way that the book was portrayed on screen, but equally many women were delighted. With a change of director and writer for this latest instalment – will this film fair any better with critics and fans? Possibly not – but still millions will flock to the cinemas to watch. February.
