Review Round Up… Little Shop of Horrors, New Wimbledon Theatre

This quirky  musical is brought back to the stage in a new UK tour, playing at the New Wimbledon Theatre until the 27th August.

The Times: *** Kate Maltby wrote: “One person who nails this tricky horror-comedy balance is Rhydian — if only he were on stage long enough to justify his billing.”

London Theatre.co.uk: *** Tom Millward found: “much like the musical’s source material, the show feels garishly low-budget and fiendishly entertaining at the same time.”

Entertainment Focus: “With a collection of enduring songs, stellar performances and a ‘so bad it’s good’ sensibility, Little Shop of Horrors is a great production of a deserving cult classic.”

WhatsOnStage: *** Ben Hewis commented that: “It’s a new take on the cult classic that works in some aspects more than others, you’ve likely seen better versions but it’s unlikely you’ve seen a better matched romantic couple, and it’s worth seeing for Lupton and Clift’s performances alone.”

Broadway World: **** “For those not convinced by a musical based on a giant flesh-eating plant, this show has everything needed to change your mind. Just make sure you don’t feed the plant!”

Musical Theatre Review: ***** “One’s thing for sure – this production brings out everything that is great about the original work, and may well be the best touring musical of the year.”

The Reviews Hub: **** “an enjoyable production here that offers many great pleasures.”

The Upcoming: ***** “Little Shop of Horrors is a camp, modern classic. Come for the spectacular visuals and stay for the brilliant cast – Rhydian is the creepy cherry on top.”

West End Frame: **** “Whilst the moral of the story may be a little twisted, Little Shop is a fun show – there’s nothing else quite like it. It’s a cult classic and well worth a look.”

London City Nights: **** “Much like it’s botanical supervillain, Little Shop of Horrors is a show with teeth.”

West End Wilma: **** “Little Shop of Horrors is a monster of a show with some brilliant performances.”

Little Shop Of Horrors continues to play at New Wimbledon Theatre until Saturday 27th August, before continuing to tour until the 26th November. To book tickets visit: ATG Tickets
