The band are back with a brand new single ‘Rhythm’ which is released on the 2nd September and has just been added to the BBC Radio Playlist.
Combining genres such as American folk music, swing, jazz, country, ragtime and bluegrass, CC Smugglers are a band that are clearly not afraid to experiment with their sound and their latest single is proof of that.
Over the summer, the band have played in some of the top European music festivals alongside Lana Del Ray, Lionel Richie and Simply Red opening for Bruce Springsteen at the prestigious Werchter Festival in Belgium. More recently CC Smugglers headlined the BBC Introducing stage at Latitude Festival.
The band are from Bedford and are ambassadors for ‘Busk In London’ – a government initiative brought in by London’s Mayor to establish the capital as the most busker-friendly city in the world.
Band member Ritchie formed the band after busking alone for some years as a teenager. He then enlisted the help of Dan Edwards (double bass), Ryan Thomas (lead guitar) and Sam Barrett (rhythm guitar and fiddle). They were joined 18 months ago by Joplin Parnell (keys) and Joel Barford (drums).
CC Smugglers will be heading off on a UK tour in October. Dates on their tour include performances at the Court Yard Theatre in London (25th October) and Manchester at the Ruby Lounge (15th October).
