New adult ensemble and child casting for Matilda the Musical at the Cambridge Theatre has been confirmed ahead of its celebrations of its fifth birthday in the West End and Roald Dahl’s centenary on 13 September.
It has been announced that Sara Sheen and Abbie Vena will join Zaris-Angel Hatorand Clara Read in the title role of Matilda from the 13th September.
The production will continue to see Craig Els as Miss Trunchbull, who has been playing the role since September 2014. Michael Begley continues as Mr Wormwood, Miria Parvin as Miss Honey and Rebecca Thornhill who plays Mrs Wormwood.
The musical will also include in its ensemble Richard Astbury, Oliver Brooks, Collette Coleman, Maria Graciano, Elliot Harper, Daniel Hope, Daniel Ioannou, Kate Kenrick, Katie Lee, Fergal McGoff, Tom Muggeridge, Matthew Rowland, Matthew Serafini, Biancha Szynal, Laura Tyrer and Sharlene Whyte.
Matilda the Musical, based on Roald Dahl’s classic story of a little girl with big imagination and magic powers, has won numerous awards including seven Olivier Awards and four Tony awards.
It is now booking at the Cambridge Theatre until the 15th October 2017, with tickets between the 30th May and 15th October 2017 going on sale on the 13th September.
The Royal Shakespeare Company’s production was written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, and direction by Matthew Warchus. The production is designed by Rob Howell, with choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker and the special effects and illusions are by Paul Kieve.
