The award winning Broadway and West End musical Chicago brings the roaring 1920’s to Woking as part of its UK tour.

Starring John Partridge, Hayley Tamaddon , Jessie Wallace and Sophie Carmen-Jones, the musical features a memorable score including the songs “All That Jazz” and “Razzle Dazzle”.

Based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, Chicago is also based on real life events that happened in the 1920’s. The musical follows Roxie Hart as she shoots her lover and along with cell block rival, double-murderess Velma Kelly, they fight to keep from death row with the help of smooth talking lawyer, Billy Flynn.

The musical features music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb as well as choreography by Bob Fosse, who along with Fred Ebb wrote the book.

This hugely popular musical originally opened in the West End’s Adelphi Theatre in 1997, going on to win an Olivier Award in 1998 for Outstanding Musical Production as well as the 1998 Critics Circle Drama Award for ‘Best Musical’, and immediately became a sell-out hit running for 15 years.

Sharp and sassy as ever, this new UK touring production sees Jessie Wallace as Mama Morton, John Partridge as Billy Flynn and Hayley Tamaddon as Roxie Hart. They are joined by Sophie Carmen-Jones as Velma Kelly, Neil Ditt as Amos Hart and A.D. Richardson as Mary Sunshine.

John Partridge and Jessie Wallace are best known for their roles in Eastenders, while Hayley Tamaddon has appeared in both Coronation Street and Emmerdale. Sophie Carmen-Jones has had an extensive West End career including appearances in Jersey Boys, Wicked and We Will Rock You.

Chicago will play at the New Victoria Theatre from the 17th to the 22nd October. To book tickets visit ATG Tickets
