It has been announced that the Olivier Award winning actress will continue to play the role of Fanny Brice in a number of venues across the UK when the hit production hits the road in 2017.
Sheridan Smith is currently performing in the first West End revival of the original 1964 musical by Jule Styne, Bob Merrill and Isobel Lennart, currently playing at the Savoy Theatre.
Funny Girl charts the rise of Fanny Brice’s career as one of Broadway’s stars as well as her doomed romance with Nicky Arnstein. The musical features memorable songs such as ‘Don’t Rain on My Parade’ and ‘People’.
This hit production, directed by Michael Mayer, transferred to the Savoy Theatre following a sold-out run at the Menier Chocolate Factory. It features revisions by Harvey Fierstein and choreography by Lynne Page.
Sheridan Smith will reprise her role at the following tour dates: Manchester Palace Theatre (18 February 2017 – 25 February 2017), Milton Keynes Theatre (27 February 2017 – 04 March 2017), Liverpool Empire (07 March 2017 – 11 March 2017), Bristol Hippodrome (21 March 2017 – 25 March 2017), Edinburgh Playhouse (18 April 2017 – 22 April 2017), Birmingham Hippodrome (09 May 2017 – 13 May 2017), Newcastle Theatre Royal (16 May 2017 – 20 May 2017), Mayflower Theatre Southampton (22 May 2017 – 27 May 2017).
Casting for the other dates of the UK tour has yet to be announced.
The UK Tour of Funny Girl will open at the Manchester Palace Theatre on the 18th February 2017, touring the UK until the 22nd July 2017.
