NEWS: Rafe Spall Joins the Cast of Hedda Gabler at the National Theatre

The National Theatre has today confirmed that Rafe Spall will join Ruth Wilson and Kyle Soller in Ivo van Hove’s production of Hedda Gabler, playing from the 5th December.

With tickets for the National Theatre’s September to February season going on sale today, additional casting for director Ivo van Hove’s debut production for the theatre has been confirmed.

This new version by Patrick Marber sees Ruth Wilson taking on the title role of a woman who is just married, yet she is already bored and is longing to be free.

The cast for the production will also include Rafe Spall (Constellations) Chukwudi Iwuji, currently playing Hamlet for the Public Theater in New York, Kate Duchêne, Éva Magyar, Sinéad Matthews and Kyle Soller, who is currently appearing as Francis in the BBC’s Poldark. 

Hedda Gabler will feature set and lighting design by Jan Versweyveld, costume design by An D’Huys and sound by Tom Gibbons.

Ivo van Hove’s production will be broadcast by NT Live to cinemas around the world on March 9th, with encore performances from the 23rd March.
