Appearing at the Victoria Palace Theatre in the West End from November 2017, the hit Broadway musical will officially reopen the theatre currently undergoing extensive refurbishment.
It was today announced that priority sale tickets for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical will go on sale on the 16th January 2017, with tickets going on general sale on the 30th January.
Full details for ticket prices and booking information will also be unveiled in January. Those who wish to sign up for priority access to tickets can do so up until the 31st October.
Talking about the news Cameron Mackintosh said: “Jeffrey Seller and I are delighted to announce the on sale dates next January for tickets to Lin-Manuel’s eagerly awaited London production of “Hamilton”. We have already started the casting process and are very excited by the tremendous diverse talents that we are already seeing for the production which opens at the Victoria Palace in just over a year’s time, December 2017.”
The multi-award winning production directed by Thomas Kail features a book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, whose other musical In the Heights is currently running at the King’s Cross Theatre.
Hamilton has won 11 Tony awards including Best Musical, the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
The musical also features choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, and is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton.
Hamilton is the story ofAmerica’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary. The score blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway – the story of America then, as told by America now.
The London production is being produced by Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman, The Public Theater and Cameron Mackintosh.
